Volcano Pacaya and hanging out with locals...

Saturday April 23, 2011

Volcano Pacaya was where Amy, Cali and I hiked. Because of its status as the only ‘active’ volcano near Antigua, it attracts the most tourists. The hike entails risk because the hikes can be hurt by flaming rocks and sulfurous fog. It was a really cool hike the rocks were still warm and you could feel the warm fog coming up from the holes of the volcano. It wasn’t that tough of a hike and really amazing to walk on dried up lava rocks. We got to collect some, which are beautiful colors.

After the hike I went shopping at the market and did some bargaining on my new wallet!

Then we were invited to a cultural dinner at a local’s house.
