TFABB (Teacher’s for a Better Belize) contacted me to come to Laguna! Well really it was Mica a RPCV from Punta Gorda, Toledo District, Belize. She asked me if she could bring University students and TFABB to Laguna Village. I was so excited because what I requested from them was to put on a Workshop for my preschool parents the topic was on the importance of preschool. TFABB said yes they would put on the workshop!
When TFABB and the University students arrived from Texas I had the TEA guest house give them a tour of the village (it cost more than expected… 4 belize dollars per person for an hour tour.)
After the tour they put on a workshop for my preschoolers parents. Many of the preschool parents of Laguna don’t want to send their children to school. So we discussed the challenges of having a preschool in Laguna.
Some of the challenges are: not wanting to send their children to school and trusting the teachers (Laguna volunteers) with their children.
Other things discussed are the benefits of going to preschool:
Agenda:
1. Questions and concerns about preschool.
2. Why preschool is important.
3. What activities you will see in preschool.
4. Make and take play dough.

Parents enjoyed making books and play dough! I was very pleased with the workshop. Thanks TFABB!!!
